It's one of the first questions we're asked, and it's a fair one. Modern professional pest control is very different from the strong chemicals of decades past. Used correctly by a licensed technician, treatments are designed to target pests while keeping your family and pets safe.
Registered, low-toxicity products
We use products registered for residential use and apply them at label rates in targeted areas — cracks, crevices and perimeters — not blanket-sprayed across living spaces.
The role of re-entry time
The main safety step is simply staying out of treated areas until surfaces are dry, usually a few hours. Your technician gives you an exact re-entry time on the day.
Extra care for specific pets
Fish tanks should be covered and pumps switched off during treatment; reptiles and birds may need to be moved temporarily. We'll always ask about pets before we start so we can plan around them.
Baits over sprays where possible
For ants and rodents we favour secured bait stations placed out of a pet's reach — effective on the pest, with minimal exposure for animals.
Quick checklist
- Tell your technician about all pets before the visit
- Keep pets in one untreated room or outside during treatment
- Wait for the advised re-entry time before letting them back
- Cover fish tanks and turn off the pump during treatment
Done properly, pest control and pet safety aren't a trade-off. A good technician plans the treatment around your household — just ask, and we'll walk you through it.
